Produced for Discovery Channel 1 x 60 It is an allusive but ever present threat to anyone anywhere who ventures beyond the familiar. In the wilderness, it is very easy to get lost and once lost, it is even easier to die. They call Nova Scotia the "Land of the Lost"; a dramatic landscape off Canada's southeastern coast. Here, rugged coastline surrounds vast expanses of forests so thick that daylight often can't cut through the tree canopy. Once upon a time, people got lost in this terrain more than any other place in North America: Children wandering too far into their woodsy backyards, hunters disoriented after chasing game, hikers turned around on a trail lead. This program is the story of four strangers lost in the dense woods of Nova Scotia. They have no food, no water, no idea how to get out. With no gear and no survival skills, they have only each other, and a little help from survival expert Cody Lundin, to get through this ordeal alive. What happens in our heads when we become disoriented? What instincts do we humans have, if any, that can put us back on track? And what knowledge do we have that can get us out of the woods alive? By program's end, we learn from search and rescue professionals, survival experts, and wilderness psychologists what it's like to be lost and survive in the wild.
